Free extra content for C&C 3: Tiberium Wars
Tiberium Wars Advanced Mod is a free game utility from the Thundermods.net team, offering a host of new content for the classic real-time strategy experience, Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. Unlike usual mods, however, all the additional technologies, units, and structures remain thematically consistent with the original game.
For its add-on content, Tiberium Wars Advanced Mod borrows certain models from other games in the franchise, such as Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3. It’s a great mix of the original Westwood games and the more sci-fi-based Tiberium Saga, combining lore and strategy elements from both C&C timelines.
Experience a mix of two timelines
Tiberium Wars Advanced Mod does a great job of bringing back the roots of the franchise, which revolved around the first games created by Westwood Studios. Over the years, the Command and Conquer franchise has diverged into two routes: the Red Alert timeline and the so-called Tiberium Saga, with the base game existing in the latter. This approach opens a lot of new story and gameplay possibilities.
The main offering of the mod is in a lot of content, evenly distributed across the factions and the gameplay aspects. You can expect new buildings, units, and technologies—featuring a mix of original materials from the developer and those lifted from other games. Of course, it also includes the content from the expansion C&C 3: Kane’s Wrath and Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight.
However, there are still a couple of bugs that adversely affect gameplay. Certain custom characters do not have unit voice lines. Also, there are mechanical bugs like units detecting nonexistent items such as mines. Another example of a gameplay issue is that the GDI Commando no longer has the automatic railgun assault rifle. On the plus side, these changes switch up the experience, forcing you to try new strategies.
A fun, massive mod
For a game originally released back in 2007, C&C 3: Tiberium Wars continue to enjoy players going back for a story-driven strategy experience. With Tiberium Wars Advanced Mod, however, you get a ton of additional reasons to visit the classic video game. More than just simply adding content, it tries to reconcile both universes of the long-running game franchise, making it a definite must-have.
